The Rotary Club of Finchley Twins with the Rotary Club of Krakow in Poland

The Club having attracted the membership of Rtn Filip Slipaczek. It was unanimously agreed to invite Filip to explore the possibility of twinning with a Polish Rotary Club. and is proud to confirm that it is now twinned with Poland's oldest and most prestigious club, R.C Krakow, which meets every Tuesday evening in Krakow's medieval Market Square.

The purpose of a Rotary Twinning is to foster international fellowship and to promote joint charitable ventures.

On the 21st May, 2007 a reception was held at The Glenlyn Hotel, 4 Woodside Park Road, Finchley London N12 to celebrate the twinning of the Rotary Clubs of Krakow and Finchley.

    

The meeting was opened by The Mayor of Barnet Cllr Maureen Braun and in attendance was The Consul of The Polish Republic in London Mr Janusz Wach. The Headmaster of FInchley Catholic High School, Kevin Hoare, whose school play "Remember" about the Nazi German Holocaust is shortly to tour Krakow, also attended the event            

To celebrate our twinning a delegation of Krakow rotarians was sent inclusive of  Professor K. Tor, Chartered Engineer Z. Murdza and Jeweller Mr W. Strojny. During the course of the evening a medal celebrating R.C. Krakow's 70th anniversary was presented to our President Anne Rowland.

In May 2008 the Club hosted a School from Krakow, (Prywatana Szko£a Podstawowa W Krakowie Nr. 2 Szkola,  Im. Noblistow Polskich), to their Breakfast meeting who were here to pay a visit to Finchley Catholic High,  also in attendance was the Head Teacher of Catholic High Mr. Kevin Hoare.
